The rapid expansion of data centers in the United States, driven by growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence, has increased pressure on environmental resources. While energy use is often emphasized, water use and water-quality impacts are emerging as major concerns, creating community resistance and regulatory challenges that developers must address through informed planning and stakeholder engagement.
